Optim FreedomView LED fiberscope adopted by Department of Homeland Security

STURBRIDGE, Mass., 20 Sept. 2007. The Department of Homeland Security, Division of Customs and Border Protection, has purchased 78 units of the FreedomView 680, a hand-held, portable inspection device from Optim Inc., a manufacturer of endoscopic products. The FreedomView enables inspectors to look for contraband in cars and trucks and air cargo on the Canadian and Mexican borders, as the newly expanded U.S.-Mexico Drug War plan is nears completion.

Aerospace market growth propels Washington economy

SEATTLE, 9 July 2007. Boeing's newest plane rolled out of the hangar for the first time on July 8 -- an example of how Washington state's aerospace industry is climbing to new heights. Washington manufacturing employment showed healthy gains last year and early this year in contrast to the national picture, thanks in large part to the state's extensive aerospace business. Washington is not done yet, according to economists and aerospace observers.

Israel Prominent at Paris Air Show

The war in Iraq may have contributed to almost 200 fewer US exhibitors at the Paris Air Show this week but Israel, America's main ally in the Middle East, is here in full force. There are 26 Israeli companies exhibiting at the Paris Air Show this week, selling a wide range of weaponry, hardware, software, subsystems and components.

Rockwell Collins Selected for Boeing's Airborne Internet

PARIS, June 17, 2003. The Boeing Company has selected Rockwell Collins to supply airborne information management equipment enabling a variety of operational, crew and passenger capabilities, including email and Internet access - all components of Boeing's "e-Enabled Advantage", which was unveiled at the Paris International Air Show.

US Still Well Represented at Paris Air Show

LE BOURGET, France, June 12, 2003. US companies will rent about the same amount of booth space at the Paris Air Show as they did two years ago during the height of the aerospace boom, but there will be fewer US exhibitors this year, according to show organizers. Show officials said US companies would take 3% less space than they did in 2001, the last time this biannual event was held. But the number of US exhibitors plunged 48%, from 350 firms in 2001 to 183 this year

French air force taps Boeing for navigational upgrade to AWACS aircraft

PARIS -- Leaders of the French air force are looking to the Boeing Co. in Seattle to install a global positioning inertial navigation system (GINS) capability into the mission system and flight deck of their four E-3 Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft.
