  1. Bombardier announces pre-Farnborough orders for five CS100 and 10 CS300 narrow-body jetliners

Posted by John Keller FARNBOROUGH, England, 9 July 2012. On the eve of the 2012 Farnborough International Airshow in Farnborough, England, Bombardier Aerospace in Montreal announced a conditional order Sunday for five CS100 and 10 CS300 regional jetliners from an unnamed new customer. The orders potentially are worth $1.02 billion. The Bombardier CSeries are narrow-body, twin-engine, medium-range jet airliners. The CS100 seats 110 passengers, and the CS300 seats 130 passengers. The first delivery of the CSeries is scheduled for the end of 2013. Bombardier joins Boeing in its pre-Farnborough announcement of aircraft sales. Boeing kicked off the expected Farnborough-related flurry of aircraft sales Friday with its announcement of an order for 23 fuel-efficient 737 MAX narrow-body passenger jetliners with options for four more to Australian carrier Virgin Australia in Brisbane, Australia. The aircraft will have a range of 2,950 nautical miles, and will be as much as 12,000 pounds lighter than other aircraft in the same seat category. International Group (17 CS300 and three CS100 aircraft), PrivatAir (five CS100 aircraft), Republic Airways (40 CS300 aircraft), an unidentified major network carrier (10 CS100 aircraft), an unidentified European customer (10 CS100 aircraft), and an unidentified airline (three CS100 aircraft). The CSeries aircraft program has also booked options for 124 aircraft and purchase rights for 10 aircraft from these customers, as well as letters of intent for as many as 30 CSeries aircraft from Ilyushin Finance Co, and for up to 15 CS300 aircraft from Atlasjet. The Farnborough International Airshow 2012 opens today for four days of business-related activity. The show, which is among the largest aviation exhibitions in the world, opens to the public Friday for three days of exhibits and aircraft demonstrations this weekend.
