Missile systems are becoming ever-more sophisticated, with autonomous capabilities that sometimes can make smart munitions indistinguishable from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The big difference usually is UAVs are recoverable, while smart munitions typically fly on one-way missions. This move by Raytheon is one more indication that the lines between sophisticated missiles, smart munitions, and unmanned aircraft is starting to blur.
