HOOD RIVER, Ore. – Sierra-Olympic Technologies Inc. in Hood River, Ore., is introducing the infrared Vayu HD uncooled thermal camera for military imaging, airborne reconnaissance, security, border protection, and wide-area surveillance.
The thermal imager features longwave infrared (LWIR) spectral response from 8 to 14 microns, and offers 1920-by-1200-pixel high-definition (HD) resolution with 1080-pixel output.
The rugged Vayu HD provides image resolution with a vanadium oxide microbolometer (VOx) sensor with a capacity of more than 2.3 million pixels on a 12-micron pixel pitch, in a commercially designed, IP67-environmentally rated, stand-alone camera.
Other features include an athermalized 24-millimeter F1.1 custom-designed optic, 30 Hz frame rate, and three video formats: HD-SDI, h.264 IP-Video, or 16-bit Camera Link output. Custom lenses are available.

The Vayu HD, with its processor core, provides integrated image enhancement functions, electronic image stabilization, on-board image and video storage, Ethernet, or RS-422 camera control capabilities.
Its uncooled microbolometer detector offers long life for the camera, and eliminates the need for a cryocooler that would require periodic servicing and replacement.
