CLACTON-ON-SEA, England – Pickering Interfaces Ltd. in Clacton-on-Sea, England, is introducing the 60-106 six-slot modular USB/LXI chassis for portable and space-restricted rackmount embedded computing test and measurement applications.

The Pickering 60-106 occupies a 1U rack-height form factor, and accepts from one to six Pickering PXI 3U modules; the user can choose from more than 1,000 module types including programmable resistors, matrices, multiplexers, general purpose relays, RF switches, and fault insertion units.

The chassis is USB 3.0-compatible and features an LXI interface with the option of using a Wi-Fi dongle (sold separately). Remote control via USB or LXI Ethernet is possible; the chassis can be controlled through standard interfaces on most personal computers and tablets that support HTML5.

"The small size will provide new functionality for test engineers," says Bob Stasonis, director of sales and marketing at Pickering Interfaces. "Possible system configurations include switching matrices up to 3312 crosspoints or up to 108 channels of programmable resistor and sensor emulation. This allows the system to add the necessary switching and frees up the PXI and PXIe slots for instrumentation."
