CHICAGO – The Association for Unmanned Vehicles Systems International (AUVSI) XPONENTIAL, one of the world's largest trade shows on unmanned systems, wraps up at the McCormick Place convention center in Chicago.

The show began on a slow, quiet note on its opening day Tuesday, but picked up noticeable on Wednesday to satisfy exhibitors who had worried by Tuesday afternoon about the show's until-then slow performance.

Among notable trends at this year's show were new products and enabling technologies to enable unmanned and autonomous vehicles to see and avoid other aircraft to avoid mid-air collisions with other manned and unmanned aircraft in congested airspace.

Many of the enabling technologies for see-and-avoid capability for unmanned aircraft involve visible-light cameras, infrared sensors, radar, and lidar, tied to sophisticated databases, sensor processing, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning.

The XPONENTIAL trade show on its last day Thursday, 2 May, opens at 10:30 a.m. central time and closes at 3 p.m. The show was promoted as bringing together more than 8,500 technologists, regulators, and users across commercial and defense sectors for one of the largest trade shows for the unmanned and autonomous systems industry.

This year’s exhibit hall has convened more than 700 companies from more than 20 industries to discuss where the market is now, and where it is headed. Many ground-breaking platforms and technologies will represent the next generation of ideas in unmanned systems in the air, on land, and at sea.

The AUVSI is one of the world's largest organizations dedicated to unmanned systems and robotics, and represents corporations and professionals from more than 60 countries involved in industry, government and academia. AUVSI members work in the defense, civil, and commercial industries.

The event is geared so that attendees can take away actionable insight and knowledge they can use to elevate their businesses. For more information contact the AUVSI online at www.auvsi.org.
