CLIFTON, N.J., 20 Jan. 2009. U.S. Air Force officials needed flexible cable assemblies to connect weapons payload to airframe on the F-15E jet fighter bomber. They found their solution in the field replaceable connector system (FRCS) weapon umbilicals from ITT Electronic Systems in Clifton, N.J.

Work will be performed at ITT Electronic Systems' Integrated Structures facility in Brighton, England. The FRCS weapon umbilical uses flexible cable from W. L. Gore & Associates in Landenberg, Pa.

ITT's push-to-fit FRCS provides a jam free, electrical interface on weapon disconnect. Previous equipment frequently jammed, causing risk of weapon damage, ITT officials say.

This award has further potential for other aircraft including the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter and F-22 Raptor jet fighter. For more information contact ITT online at www.itt.com, or W. L. Gore at www.gore.com.
