VISTA, Calif., 17 Nov. 2010.Simulation and training systems designers at the SDS International Advanced Technologies Division in Orlando, Fla., needed high-fidelity controllers for the company's Remotely Operated Vehicle Adaptable Training/Tracking System (ROVATTS) for the MQ-9 Reaper armed unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). They found their solution from the simulation products sector of CH Products LLC in Vista, Calif.

CH Products will demonstrate the company's CH Reaper Ground Control Simulator (RGCS) console as part of the SDS MQ-9 ROVATTS simulator at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation, and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) in Orlando, Fla., from 29 Nov. to 2 Dec. The CH Reaper Ground Control Simulator console is a USB desktop training unit for military training, which is being used by U.S. military training and education facilities, CH Products officials say.

The SDS MQ-9 ROVATTS simulator uses commercially available laptop or desktop computers to help train MQ-9 UAV pilot/sensor operators, and incorporates high-fidelity aerodynamics packages, such as landing/turbulence/control-delay affects, head-up displays, and electro-optical/infra-red sensor displays.

The systems include pilot and sensor operator control stations with status/command displays and menu button interfaces, map displays, normal and emergency procedure functionality, record/playback and data-capture/analysis, as well as AGM-114 hellfire missile and GBU-12 laser guided bomb employment.
