SAN DIEGO, 28 June 2010. LRAD Corp., maker of acoustic hailing devices (AHDs), has received the latest in a series of LRAD 1000X orders from the U.S. Navy under Block 0 of the Shipboard Protection System. The multi-year contract was issued by Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division to LRAD Corp. in October 2007. The $463,000 order is scheduled to ship next quarter.

LRAD's proprietary directed AHDs enable military forces to determine the intent of potential threats at safe distances, providing time and distance to employ a measured response to a threat's actions. The voice intelligibility and clarity of the LRAD 1000X provides a directional broadcast that achieves maximum sound projection and penetration beyond 3,000 meters, says a spokesperson.

"We appreciate this latest order and the opportunity to work with the U.S. Navy on deploying LRAD systems on large vessels of the fleet," says Tom Brown, president and CEO of LRAD Corp.
