OPEN MIND Technologies USA Inc. in Needham, Mass. is introducing the hyperMILL 2019.2 version of the company's computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) software with high-precision 3D finishing, five-axis tangent machining, high-performance turning, and CAD-for-CAM technologies.
The 3D shape Z-level finishing cycle of hyperMILL 2019.2 offers a precise surface mode option that ensures ultra-smooth surfaces with tolerances in the micron range.
This can save time on post-machining finishing, especially for mold makers. The smooth overlap function also improves surface finish and is available in many cycles. The switch regions for steep and shallow machining have a small overlap including a slightly lifted cutter, resulting in perfect finishes with imperceptible switches.
The hyperMILL 2019.2 software integrates the hyperCAD-S Global fitting function into the CAM strategy for five-axis tangent machining, which can join several faces into one face with a controlled ISO orientation.
Using CAD elements for CAM programming also can apply to an automatic face extension that automatically extends the bounding surfaces during programming to improve the edges of the machined surfaces.
OPEN MIND users further have enhanced their macro technology to enable more secure and simpler design programming. Full-text searching is available in the macro database and users can define machine and material groups as defaults to make it easier to select macros.
