HOLLYWOOD, Fla., 16 Sept. 2013. Executives of HEICO Corp. in Hollywood, Fla., are boosting their company's expertise in satellite manufacturing and RF satellite payloads with their acquisition of Lucix Corp. in Camarillo, Calif.
HEICO leaders have announced an agreement to acquire Lucix, a designer and manufacturer of high-performance, high-reliability RF and microwave modules, units, and integrated sub-systems for commercial and military satellites for an undisclosed amount of cash. Lucix’s financial information was not disclosed. Lucix will operate as a subsidiary of HEICO.
HEICO is involved the aviation, defense, space, medical, telecommunications and electronics industries through its Hollywood, Fla.-based Flight Support Group and its Miami-based Electronic Technologies Group. HEICO’s customers include airlines and overhaul shops, as well as defense and space contractors and military agencies, company officials say.
HEICO's other subsidiaries include VPT Inc., Analog Modules Inc., Connectronics Corp., IRCameras LLC, Lumina Power Inc., Radiant Power Corp., Sierra Microwave Technology LLC, Sunshine Avionics LLC, Jet Avion Corp., Aero Design Inc., Flight Specialties Corp., Aircraft Technology Inc., Future Aviation Inc.,Seal Dynamics LLC, and 3D-Plus USA Inc.
Founded in 1999, Lucix’s products include converters, receivers, transmitters, amplifiers, frequency sources and related sub-systems that address satellite frequencies in UHF, L, S, C, Ku, Ka, and Q bands. The majority of its revenue is derived from commercial satellite payload hardware and its products can be found on more than 40 satellites operating in geosynchronous orbits.
Lucix employs about 140 people, and the company's management team will remain with the company in their existing positions. HEICO officials say they do not expect any employee turnover to result from the acquisition.
