Gesture-activated head lamp with white, red, and green beams introduced by Pelican

TORRANCE, Calif., 15 Jan. 2012. Pelican Products Inc. in Torrance, Calif., is introducing the 2710 and 2720 LED head lamp with a wide range of features to adapt many situations. Both head lamps feature a red LED emergency signaling mode that flashes the letters "SOS" in Morse code and a 4X optical magnification lens for closed space and spot lighting. They come with a rubber headband for helmet use, cloth headband, and batteries.

The 2710 LED head lamp features white light, with night-vision-friendly red and green LEDs; high/low mode with 24 lumens in high and 7 lumens in low; offers usable light for two hours in high and five hours in low; and weighs 2.8 ounces with two AAA batteries.

The 2720 LED head lamp features a motion sensor actuation mode that will turn the light on and off with a gesture like swiping the hand before the face; variable dimming mode; three LEDs -- two low-level red and one high performance white; dimming mode allows the user to shine anywhere from 100 percent to 10 percent (80 to 5 lumens); eight to 175 hours of runtime depending on light selection; and weighs 3.8 ounces with three AAA batteries.
