BENE BERAQ, Israel, 16 July 2012. The Elbit Systems Ltd. EW and SIGINT - Elisra segment in Bene Beraq, Israel, is joining forces with Danish defense company Terma A/S in Lystrup, Denmark, to develop airborne electronic warfare (EW) and aircraft survivability equipment.
The two companies signed a cooperation agreement last week during Farnborough International Airshow in Farnborough, England, which will enable Elisra and Terma engineers to explore business opportunities for providing avionics subsystems on helicopters and fighter aircraft, and broaden offerings in EW and aircraft survivability, including coordinated marketing worldwide, company officials say.
The two companies have previous experience integrating their avionics technologies on fighter aircraft. "Elisra and Terma will be able to provide customers with comprehensive, modular EW suites in multiple (internal and external) installations, suitable for a broad variety of helicopters and fighter aircraft, says Itzhak Gat, Elisra's general manager.
With this approach, we can jointly compete for further market share worldwide," says Terma Vice President Dan Ulrich.
Elbit is a defense electronics company that focuses on developing and upgrading technologies for command, control, communications, computers, intelligence surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR), unmanned aircraft systems, advanced electro-optics, electro-optic space systems, EW suites, airborne warning systems, ELINT systems, data links, and military communications systems and radios.
Terma's AN/ALQ-213 electronic warfare management system (EWMS) and related survivability products including 3D-audio warning and active noise reduction capability are fielded internationally in various configurations on transport aircraft, helicopters, and fighter aircraft.
