Bombardier takes 20 orders and options from airBaltic for CS300 jets Tuesday; Farnborough total hits 35

FARNBOROUGH, England, 10 July 2012. Eastern European air carrier Air Baltic Corp. (airBaltic) in Riga, Latvia, agreed to buy 10 CS300 regional jets from Bombardier Aerospace in Montreal. Bombardier announced the deal, a letter of intent to sell the aircraft, Tuesday at the Farnborough International Airshow in Farnborough, England.

FARNBOROUGH, England, 10 July 2012. Eastern European air carrier Air Baltic Corp. (airBaltic) in Riga, Latvia, agreed to buy 10 CS300 regional jets from Bombardier Aerospace in Montreal. Bombardier announced the deal, a letter of intent to sell the aircraft, Tuesday at the Farnborough International Airshowin Farnborough, England.

The airline airBaltic also took purchase rights on 10 additional Bombardier CS300 jetliners. The deal is worth $764 million, could increase to $1.57 billion if airBaltic converts the 10 purchase rights to firm orders.

With Tuesday's deal for Bombardier to sell 10 CSeries jets and 10 options to airBaltic, Bombardier has taken 35 aircraft orders and options since the day before Farnborough opened. Bombardier took conditional orders from an unidentified customer Sunday on the eve of the show's opening.

The new CS300 regional jets "will be an excellent companion to the eight Bombardier Q400 NextGen turboprops in our fleet,” says Martin Gauss, CEO of airBaltic. In 2012, airBaltic was named one of the most innovative airlines in the world by airlinetrends.com. The first delivery of the Bombardier CSeries jetliners is scheduled for the end of 2013.

The CS300 seats 130 passengers. The CS300 is 125 feet long, has a wingspan of 115 feet. It has a range of 2,200 miles at speeds of 541 miles per hour and at altitudes of 41,000 feet. It is powered by Pratt & Whitney PurePower PW1500G engines. Bombardier has booked orders and commitments for 352 CSeries aircraft.
