FARNBOROUGH, England, 5 July 2012. The Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet jet fighter-bomber and the U.S. Marine Corps V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft are among the aircraft scheduled to make flight demonstrations during the Farnborough International Airshow from 9 to 13 July in Farnborough, England.
Two Russian Knights Su-27 jet fighters also will perform at Farnborough. Notably the U.S. F-35 Joint Strike Fighter and F-22 Raptor stealth fighter will not make the show this year, extending a string of no-shows for these modern aircraft at major international air exhibitions.
Other aircraft scheduled for flight demonstrations, static displays, or both, include the Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon and C-130J Super Hercules, the Swedish Saab Gripen jet fighter and the Russian Yak 130 two-seat jet trainer. On 14 and 15 July the British delta-wing Vulcan strategic bomber also will perform.
Aerobatic display teams will perform during the show, including the Breitling Jet Team, The Blades, RedHawks, Breitling Wingwalkers, and RAF Red Arrows will fly over the skies of Farnborough aerodrome performing stunts and tricks with speed and precision.
Making its first appearance at Farnborough will be the South Korean Air Force T-50 jet trainer in the colors of the Black Eagles display team and the aerobatic pilot Mark Jefferies.
On the ground in static displays will be the historic triple-tail Lockheed Super Constellation propeller-driven airliner, as well as the World War II-era Catalina Flying Boat.
Also on static display at Farnborough will be Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic, the world’s first spaceline. Modern airliners including aircraft from Boeing and Airbus also will be on ground display.
