Rugged motor controller box for variable-speed military applications introduced by Sensitron Semiconductor

DEER PARK, N.Y., 8 July 2012. Sensitron Semiconductor in Deer Park, N.Y., is introducing the SEC high power sensorless BLDC digital-speed motor controller for rugged, high-reliability, and industrial motor control applications. The motor controller box is for fans, pumps, compressors and other variable-speed military applications.

This MC solution includes an EMI filter, DC/DC conversion, ruggedized MIL-STD-38999 connectors, and CAN interface for control and monitoring, while supporting multiple motors with customer-side software programmability.

This power electronics device uses a digital motor controller from Sensitron for rugged high reliability and industrial motor control applications called the Digital Vector Motor Drive.

The controller implements a space vector modulation control design for maximum use of the DC bus voltage that provides smooth torque control. The device also is available for DC bus voltage operating range from 28 to 800 volts.

This design enables use of one device and part number for several motor applications. Internal to this enclosure also is power conditioning for the motor controller, which is bus filtering and power conditioning that meet EMI standards.

The enclosure is available with military circular connectors and will meet various environmental standards for harsh environments such as IP67.
