SCHAUMBURG, Ill., 9 Oct. 2012. Motorola Solutions Inc. in Schaumburg, Ill., has completed its acquisition of rugged wearable computer designer Psion PLC in London for about $200 million in cash, Motorola officials say.
Psion specializes in rugged mobile computing devices such as handheld computers, vehicle-mount computers, and wearable computers. Motorola Solutions provides mission-critical communication for enterprise and government applications.
The Psion acquisition expands Motorola's core enterprise mobile computing business for manufacturing, transportation, and logistics applications, says Motorola Solutions chairman and CEO Greg Brown.
Rugged mobile computing and wearable computing is of particular interest to military leaders as deployed warfighters increase their participation in network-centric operations.
