Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., 10 Jan. 2013. Cross Match Technologies, Inc., a provider of biometric identity management products, has released two new versions of its Mobile Essentials software development kit (SDK) that integrates its Verifier Mw wireless handheld fingerprint scanner with Android and Blackberry smartphones. Both versions enable capture and identification applications that operate over 3G networks.

The Company's Verifier line of fingerprint scanners includes the Verifier Mw which is suited for mobile Rapid ID implementations. Up to now Mobile Essentials has enabled the use of the Verifier Mw on Windows platforms; making Rapid ID possible for laptops and desktops. The new versions of the SDK provide agencies that use cellular phone-based Rapid ID and field identification applications the ability to leverage the Verifier Mw's capabilities.

Designed for single-handed use, the ruggedized Verifier Mw is a FBI certified FAP 30 mobile fingerprint scanner. Because the Verifier Mw is Bluetooth-enabled, it works with all current versions of Android and Blackberry smartphones, unlike sled-based scanners that are limited to a single phone model.

"This software application gives our customers the expanded flexibility to utilize the verifier MW with android or blackberry smart phones," said Mike Oehler, Product Manager for handheld solutions at Cross Match Technologies. "It no longer is necessary to have that windows device."

By eliminating the need for a laptop, identification can be collected and matched against databases with just a smart phone and the Verifier Mw. This enables soldiers in the field or at check points to more easily use biometrics for identification.
