CONCORD, Calif., 7 Dec. 2015. Calex Mfg. Co. Inc. in Concord, Calif., is introducing the FXP series of DC-DC converters for battery-powered applications. The FXP series of power electronics devices features 9 to 36 volts DC input range, and users can set up and as many as three bricks in parallel with no external circuitry required for output power of as much as 2.8 kilowatts.

Current sharing among the converters comes from using the droop method that requires no current share pin. Output voltages are 24 and 28 volts DC. Input to output isolation is 2250 volts DC.

The efficiency of the FXP runs as high as 96.5 percent. The converters efficiency and power density come from synchronous rectification technology, advanced electronic circuit, packaging, and thermal design.

The 24-volt output FXP provides as much as 42 amps of output current and the 28-volt model provides as much as 36 amps. Both models will operate down to a no-load condition.

The output noise of the 24-volt model is 240 millivolt peak to peak and the 28-volt model is 280-volt peak to peak. Line regulation is 0.05 percent typical and load regulation is 0.56-volt for the 24-volt-output model and 0.65-volt for the 28-volt model. Output voltage setpoint accuracy is +/-0.25 percent.

The temperature coefficient is 0.015 percent/C. Both models feature ON/OFF. The OFF state idle current is 3 milliamps. The mean time between failures of the FXP is 5.4 million hours.

Both models are protected by over current shutdown, short circuit protection and over temperature protection. The case operating temperature range of the FXP is -40 to 100 degrees Celsius. An extended temperature range version of the product, the "-T", has a case operating temperature of -55 to 105 C including cold start at -55 C.

Both models are designed to meet UL/cUL 60950, IEC/EN 60950-1 and MIL-STD-810G for functional shock and vibration. The case dimensions are 2.5 by 4.7 by 0.52 inches. For more information contact Calex online at www.calex.com.
