WASHINGTON, 5 Oct. 2016. The Curtiss-Wright Corp. Defense Solutions division in Ashburn, Va., is introducing the DuraDBH-672 Digital Beachhead rugged vetronicsnetwork switch with Mounted Assured-PNT (MAPS) functionality to provide military vehicles with precise positioning and timing, even in GPS-denied environments.

The DuraDBH-672 has a built-in military ground based global positioning system (GPS) receiver application module (GB-GRAM), chip-scale atomic clock (CSAC), and inertial measurement unit (IMU). Curtiss-Wright introduced the unit this week at the Association of the U.S. Army (AUSA) conference and trade show in Washington.

The switch and shared services processor complies with standards outlined in the Vehicular Integration for Command, Control, Communication, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (C4ISR) / Electronic Warfare (EW) Interoperability (VICTORY) program.

The pre-qualified and low-cost line replaceable unit (LRU) is for deployment on military ground vehicles, and can distribute Assured Position, Navigation and Timing (A-PNT).

Curtiss-Wright is working with the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) to test and evaluate the DuraDBH-672.

The DuraDBH-672 Gigabit Ethernet switch and vehicle processor can consolidate support for network switch, vehicle processor, embedded GPS, atomic clock, inertial navigation, solid-state storage, and add-in I/O interface in one LRU.

The unit delivers 16 ports of managed Gigabit Ethernet switching and static routing, a low-power multi-core vetronics computer, and support for VICTORY software applications, and common network services software.

Its modular I/O and storage architecture is based on Mini-PCI Express cards and mSATA SSD Flash storage to support MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, COM, DIO, and GPS modules.

The unit is dust and waterproof (IP67), runs fanless under extended operating temperatures, is qualified for high shock and vibration requirements, integrates a filtered, transient-protected power supply for vehicle use, and includes circular MIL-DTL-38999 connectors on its front panel.
