ARLINGTON, Va. – Executives of Accenture in Arlington, Va., seek to boost their company's expertise in cyber security and cyber intelligence with their proposed acquisition of the iDefense Security Intelligence Services business from VeriSign Inc. in Reston, Va.

The iDefense Security Intelligence Services business is one of the world’s first and most prolific cyber threat intelligence businesses, Accenture officials say. The iDefense segment of VeriSign specializes in cyber vulnerabilities, malicious code, and global threats to organizations.

iDefense’s next-generation intelligence platform specializes in delivering fast access to timely and actionable security intelligence to enable organizations to make smart security decisions and defend against new and evolving threats, Accenture officials say.

Complementing recent security investments, the acquisition of iDefense augments Accenture Security’s existing Cyber Defense Services with targeted threat intelligence that Accenture will embed into services it manages for clients’ security operations.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Completion of the acquisition is subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions. The iDefense business has amassed proprietary threat intelligence data over the past 18 years that powers its application program interfaces (APIs) and its IntelGraph analysis platform.

In addition to providing threat intelligence, Accenture will fuel its cyber security platform with these capabilities to enhance its ability to inform clients where threats are forming and coming from, and what actions to take, company officials say. iDefense’s capabilities will also become a component of Accenture’s adversary simulation, threat hunting, and incident response services.
