MIL-STD-1760 networking modules for military and avionics applications introduced by North Atlantic
BOHEMIA, N.Y. – North Atlantic Industries Inc. in Bohemia, N.Y., is introducing the FTJ and FTK MIL-STD-1760 smart communications networking modules for avionics and defense distributed computing applications.
The FTJ and FTK meet MIL-STD-1760 operational requirements, as applied to an integrated I/O function module and include specially designed transceivers to ensure signal parameter operation and integrity.
The FTJ and FTK modules provide a single- and dual-channel communications interface and offer advantages including independent (dual-redundant) interface channels with support for remote terminal and bus monitor combination, automatic message return support, automatic message retries and multiple message processing. These avionics and distributed computing networking modules offer 64 words on-board memory per channel.

MIL-STD-1760, based on the MIL-STD-1553 signal and interface network backbone, includes additional communication and the electrical interface requirements for subsystems connected to the data bus for integration into weapon systems. When auto-initialized as a remote terminal, the channel(s) can respond on the bus with valid messages within 150 milliseconds of power-on.
“The addition of the FTJ and FTK communications modules supplements the wide array of NAI’s COSA Architecture smart function support.” says Lino Massafra, North Atlantic's vice president of sales and marketing. “Providing a MIL-STD-1760 weapons store communications solution augments NAI’s support for warfighter platform systems integration and capabilities.”
