LOS ANGELES - A risk assessment software package originally developed for the U.S. Air Force to enable managers to perform do-it-yourself analyses of threats to mission critical information is now being marketed to commercial users by its developer, Trident Data Systems in Los Angeles.
The package, NetRisk, allows managers to perform "what if" analyses of the value of their information and various threats and vulnerabilities.
U.S. Air Force experts began using NetRisk at the Air Force Air Intelligence Agency at Kelly Air Force Base, Texas. Officials at the National Security Agency in Washington also bought copies.
AT&T experts also have been evaluating the package. The cost is $30,000 to $38,000 per user license, and $25,000 for government users.
