Harris Acoustic to provide submarine sonar components

EAST WALPOLE, Mass., 9 Sept. 2005. Harris Acoustic Products Corp. in East Walpole, Mass., won a $13.1 million contract Sept. 8 to build high-frequency (HF) sail array submarine sonar system components.
EAST WALPOLE, Mass., 9 Sept. 2005. Harris Acoustic Products Corp. in East Walpole, Mass., won a $13.1 million contract Sept. 8 to build high-frequency (HF) sail array submarine sonar system components.
The HF sail array sonar system sends, receives, and measures sound energy in detecting mines on U.S. submarines. Harris Acoustic will build as many as 20 projectors and 164 receive array modules, as well as spare parts and technical data.
Work will be in East Walpole, Mass., and will be finished by July 2013. Awarding the contract is the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division in Newport, R.I. The contract number is N66604-05-D-0822.
