NEW YORK, 31 May 2005. L-3 Communications announced today that its Security & Detection Systems subsidiary has received an order from the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for additional eXaminer 3DX explosives detection systems (EDS).

This latest order, valued at more than $28 million, brings to 70 the total number of eXaminers ordered by the TSA in 2005. There are currently more than 530 L-3 eXaminer EDS deployed throughout the world.

This TSA order follows recent purchases of eXaminers by international airports in Korea and Japan.

L-3 has recently introduced a number of industry-leading advancements to the eXaminer that set it apart from competing systems, including:
-- Additional operational features that improve the overall efficiency of in-line systems; and

"L-3 continues to work closely with the TSA, airports, and airlines to provide them with EDS that meet their challenging needs for high throughput and more effective threat detection," said Allen Barber, president of L-3 Security & Detection Systems. "This latest order from the TSA indicates an ongoing confidence in the eXaminer EDS."
