L-3 to provide additional networked helicopter training simulators

ORLANDO, Fla., 20 Dec. 2005. U.S. Department of Defense officials are purchasing additional networked training simulators to enable Army helicopter pilots to practice together on a real-time, computerized battlefield in a combined arms scenario.

ORLANDO, Fla., 20 Dec. 2005. U.S. Department of Defense officials are purchasing additional networked training simulators to enable Army helicopter pilots to practice together on a real-time, computerized battlefield in a combined arms scenario.

The L-3 Communications Link Simulation and Training division in Arlington, Texas, won a $33.4 contract modification Dec. 16 to buy lots 12, 13, 14, and 15 of the Aviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (AVCATT) -- a group of interactive, networked, reconfigurable aviation manned simulators.

Awarding the contract is the U.S. Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division in Orlando, Fla. Work is to be finished in May 2007.
