ITT to operate Army communications network in Asia and Africa

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., 15 Dec. 2005. U.S. Army leaders have awarded ITT Industries, Inc. the Total Army Communications -- Southwest Asia, Central Asia and Africa (TAC-SWACAA) contract to operate and maintain communications and information systems in Southwest Asia, Central Asia and Africa.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., 15 Dec. 2005. U.S. Army leaders have awarded ITT Industries, Inc. the Total Army Communications -- Southwest Asia, Central Asia and Africa (TAC-SWACAA) contract to operate and maintain communications and information systems in Southwest Asia, Central Asia and Africa.

The $681 million contract was let by the Army's Information Technology, E-Commerce and Commercial Contracting Center-West.

The agreement covers one base year with four one-year options. Contract work will be performed by ITT's Systems Division, headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colo., under the operational direction of the Network Enterprise Technology Command's (NETCOM) 160th Signal Brigade.

"Our approach has been and will always be to join our customer in mission accomplishment. On TAC-SWACAA, we will do this by providing high-quality, flexible and responsive support to NETCOM's mission partners, which include U.S. and Coalition Forces," said Steve Gaffney, president of ITT Defense.

"Through our partnership with NETCOM, we will continue to provide full support to the Warfighter for critical communications systems at 50 locations in six countries that are partnered with the United States in the global war against terrorism.
