Navy orders 81 Digital Modular Radios

SAN DIEGO, 25 July 2005. U.S. Navy officials are ordering 81 AN/USC-61 Digital Modular Radio (DMR) systems from General Dynamics C4 Systems in Scottsdale, Ariz.

SAN DIEGO, 25 July 2005. U.S. Navy officials are ordering 81 AN/USC-61 Digital Modular Radio (DMR) systems from General Dynamics C4 Systems in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The order is part of a $53.9 million contract awarded July 22 from U.S. Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command San Diego. The contract number is N00039-05-C-0026.

DMR is a software-definable radio that operates UHF, satellite communications, single channel ground to air radio system, line of sight, and high frequency waveforms on Navy surface warships and submarines.

The order includes DMR 100 and 200 watt power amplifiers, and other ancillary hardware. Work will be finished by June 2007.
