L-3 to support C-23 Sherpas for Army National Guard

NEW YORK, N.Y., 6 April 2005. L-3 Communications announced today that its Vertex Aerospace subsidiary (L-3 Vertex) has been awarded a contract to provide Contractor Operated and Managed Base Supply (COMBS) for the U.S. Army National Guard's worldwide C-23 Sherpa aircraft fleet.

NEW YORK, N.Y., 6 April 2005. L-3 Communications announced today that its Vertex Aerospace subsidiary (L-3 Vertex) has been awarded a contract to provide Contractor Operated and Managed Base Supply (COMBS) for the U.S. Army National Guard's worldwide C-23 Sherpa aircraft fleet.

The value of the initial one-year award is $6.6 million and the total contract value with nine, one-year option periods is $110.7 million. The subcontract, a firm fixed price contract, was awarded to L-3 Vertex by M7 Aerospace, which was awarded the prime contract by the Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM).

L-3 Vertex will provide total contractor supply chain management services for the C-23 fleet, including worldwide procurement, spares repair, quality assurance and inventory tracking. The C-23 Sherpa is a light transport aircraft used to support theater aviation, cargo, airdrop and aeromedical evacuation.

"For our COMBS customers, we have perfected an efficient inventory delivery system, providing spare parts when and where needed on short notice. We are very pleased to team with M7 Aerospace in support of the C-23 Sherpa fleet."

Prime contractor M7 Aerospace will provide total program management for the C-23. M7 Aerospace is a privately held small business based in San Antonio, Texas, with five business units spanning a wide array of aviation services, including aircraft parts and product support, government logistics support, aerostructures manufacturing, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), and visual imaging.
