L-3 and DCS to design Navy aircraft weapons

NEW YORK, 18 May 2005. L-3 Communications announced today that its Government Services, Inc. (L-3 GSI) subsidiary has been chosen as the principal subcontractor on a 5-year contract recently awarded to DCS Corp. by the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) at China Lake, Calif.

NEW YORK, 18 May 2005. L-3 Communications announced today that its Government Services, Inc. (L-3 GSI) subsidiary has been chosen as the principal subcontractor on a 5-year contract recently awarded to DCS Corp. by the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) at China Lake, Calif.

L-3 GSI will be providing engineering support for Navy aircraft weapon systems. This contract is valued at $45.5 million, assuming all options are exercised. In addition to DCS and L-3 GSI, the team for this project includes New Directions Technologies, Inc. Work began on the contract on April 1, 2005.

"We are very pleased to be selected, as part of the DCS Team, to provide support to the critical initiatives at the Naval Air Warfare Center," said Joe Saponaro, president of L-3 GSI. "This win will also help ensure our continued presence at China Lake for future contracts in that region."

The DCS Team will provide technical support services to present and future NAWCWD aircraft integrated product teams (IPTs) and weapons system software facilities, including integration of weapons, avionics, sensors and system hardware and software; software engineering and development for aircraft computers, avionics, targeting systems, weapon systems, and mission/systems support equipment; IPT program-level support; design, construction, and integration of simulation labs and trainers; aircraft modification; and aircraft test instrument design, development, installation, maintenance, service, set-up, and operation.
