HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., 14 Sept. 2008.Narda Microwave-East in Hauppauge, N.Y., is introducing the FO-MDA-40-15D-1 low-cost EML driver for 40-gigabit-per-second lightwave communication systems.

The FO-MDA-40-15D-1 is for VSR 300-pin MSA SFF transponders. It offers dual inputs that mate with standard multiplexers. It operates at a maximum data rate of 44 gigabits per second, features electronic eye-crossing control of 40 percent to 70 percent, and has variable output between 2.5 and 3.4 Vpp.

The driver has a 3-dB bandwidth of 35 GHz and gain at 20 GHz of 23 dB. RMS additive jitter is typically 0.55 ps, and 20 percent-to-80 percent rise and fall time is 10 ps. The unit measures 25.32-by-29.46-by-6.35-millimeter and uses GPPO connectors.
