ORLANDO, Fla., 3 Nov. 2014.electro-optics experts at Lockheed Martin Corp. are introducing the INFIRNO turret-mounted high-definition 15-inch sensor for identifying, tracking, and engaging several targets at long range from land vehicles, aircraft, and ships.

The INFIRNO from the Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control segment in Orlando, Fla., has a high-definition infrared sensor and nine line replaceable units to enable users to mix and match sensor payloads and upgrade the sensor system as new technologies become available.

The turret-mounted system with high performing optical sensors also are for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions, and blend technologies that Lockheed Martin developed for the U.S. Army's Apache targeting and pilotage sensor (M-TADS/PNVS), the U.S. Air Force's Sniper Advanced Targeting Pod and the U.S. Marine Corps' AH-1Z Target Sight System, company officials say.

INFIRNO users can upgrade system components and perform field maintenance without removing the sensor from the vehicle, aircraft or vessel.
