TEWKSBURY, Mass., 1 Aug. 2012. Raytheon Company (NYSE:RTN) won two U.S. Navy contracts with a total value of $53.6 million for the Dual Band Radar, a multi-mission air defenseradar for the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) next-generation aircraft carrier. Raytheon engineers will not only enhance the system's software to optimize power efficiency, but also prepare the radar suite for the next phase of testing and evaluation.
"DBR is the first U.S. naval radar system capable of simultaneous, coordinated operation across two frequency ranges," says Raytheon's Kevin Peppe, vice president of Integrated Defense Systems' Seapower Capability Systems. "DBR will be the U.S. Navy's most capable radar and a critical asset for the fleet."
