Compact thermal weapon sight from Elbit enables snipers to hit targets as far away as half a mile

HAIFA, Israel, 12 June 2012. Elbit Systems in Haifa, Israel, is introducing the Clip-On Coyote modular uncooled thermal weapon sight that integrates in front of a sniper's rifle telescope.

HAIFA, Israel, 12 June 2012. Elbit Systems in Haifa, Israel, is introducing the Clip-On Coyote modular uncooled thermal weapon sight that integrates in front of a sniper rifle telescope.

The weighs less than four pounds and enables snipers to hit targets more than half a mile away. The thermal rifle sights also enable snipers to detect targets a mile and a half away, and operate continuously for more than eight hours (story continues below).

The sight is for team operations, and offers a video net kit that consists of video recording, transferring, and receiving, and can connect several snipers to the same net to enable snipers to share and coordinate mission data. It also provides enhanced command and control and advanced monitoring and investigating capabilities.

The Coyote family of uncooled thermal weapon sights and pocket scopes are designed for use as either hand-held or weapon-mounted sights. The sights offer low power consumption, video capturing capabilities, optional infrared and visible laser pointer, integration with fire control systems, compact and ruggedized design, and operation in urban environments and open terrain.
