ANDOVER, Mass., 2 Nov. 2006. Vicor Corp. in Andover, Mass., is adding eight mid-power Maxi DC-DC converters to the 375-volts DC input family: a 200 Watts model at 3.3 Vout, a 300-Watt model at 5 Vout, and 400-Watt models at 12, 15, 24, 28, 36, and 48 Vout.
The modules -- which incorporate Vicor's low-noise zero-current and zero-voltage switching (ZCS/ZVS) -- are for defense, aerospace, industrial or process control, distributed power, medical, ATE, communications, and off-line systems with FPC front ends.
Low-noise ZCS/ZVS reduces the design effort and filtering costs required for power converters to meet agency conducted emissions requirements.
The 375 Vin Maxi family now comprises 17 models with output voltages from 2 to 54-volts DC and power levels from 160 to 600 Watts. The converters operate from 375 volts nominal input, with an input range of 250 volts to 425 volts.
Efficiencies range to as much as 89 percent for the high-output voltages. These models are available in five different environmental grades, with six different pin options and three baseplate options. The modules, which are optionally available in RoHS compliant models, are a compact 4.6 by 2.2 by 0.5 inch with a height above board of 0.43 inch.
