MUNICH, Germany, 20 Nov. 2006. Planar Systems Inc. in Beaverton, Ore., is offering the sunlight-readable LC1713R embedded display for outdoor applications where sunlight or other bright light makes it difficult to read information on the screen.
Planar made the announcement last week at the Electronica conference and trade show in Munich, Germany.
The display has brightness of 1,200 candela per square centimeter (cd/m²), and can automatically be dimmed from 1200 cd/m² to as dim as 200 cd/m², depending on the lighting requirements. It also features VGA, DVI-D, S-Video, and Composite video inputs. The LC1713R offers full-motion video capability through use of Planar's Rapid Response Video.
It can be integrated into a variety of enclosures and used for outdoor ticketing machines, digital signage, and ATMs or indoors where an extremely bright display is a requirement such as in industrial control applications.
