PT launches IPnexus Element Management System for remote IP monitoring and management of mission-critical systems
Posted by Courtney E. Howard
LAS VEGAS, Nev., 23 March 2010. PT (formerly known as Performance Technologies), a global provider of advanced network communications solutions, has released its IPnexus EMS (Element Management System). The new IP-native system enables network engineers at wireless and wireline carriers, service providers, and OEMs to rapidly install, monitor, and manage hundreds of network elements from a single, secure interface point.
The IPnexus EMS system is a stand-alone, turnkey carrier-grade device that includes all the hardware and software needed to provide a highly available, centralized, and scalable management system that adheres to the five key ITU-T recommended areas: fault, configuration, performance, accounting, and security.
With IP-based networks and communication systems increasing in size, complexity, and geographical dispersal, it is paramount for system operators to have an advanced tool that controls, manages, and monitors mission-critical network elements, says a PT representative. This capability is vital for ensuring optimal system performance, as well as for maintaining system availability and operational status. In addition, it assists with network revenue generation, and shortens the failure recovery interval.
Rather than attempting to manage systems by the traditional means of linking each element on an individual basis, the IPnexus EMS simplifies connection to multiple elements with its extensible plug-in architecture. Its Web-based design eases the management of these network elements through an IP port, making all configuration parameters accessible through the use of a built-in context-based, SNMP proxy engine. It supports a full set of management features that allow control and monitoring of a wide range of products, including PT's own IPnexus Application-Ready Systems, SEGway signaling, and Xpress NGN solutions.
"From the inception of our design we set out to create a product that surpasses the traditional approach of an EMS," says John Grana, senior vice president of Products and Technology at PT. "We believe that we have set the new standard in Element Management Systems in today's IP-based communication network."
