FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., 20 Feb. 2010. Accusonic Products in Bay Shore, N.Y., is introducing four versions of the Tactical Talker lightweight universal military communications handset that offer multiplatform military radio connectivity and rapid tactical communications network access in a small man-wearable enclosure.

Accusonic will demonstrate four different pre-production versions of the Tactical Talker radio handset, which is designed to replace existing conventional tactical radio handsets including the H-250, next week at the AUSA Winter Conference in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The radio communications handset units incorporate mission related features and scaling metrics identified during field tests over the past year. The unit's suitability as a single replacement for conventional units is due to its combined ergonomics and performance, Accusonic officials say.

The Tactical Talker's open platform architecture enables it to be custom configured for specific mission. In addition, the units electro-acoustic design gives it signal intelligibility superior to older units in the field, company officials say.

Tactical Talker can be used interchangeably with existing field radios. Its smallest design is 30 percent smaller and 20 percent lighter than when it was introduced, and comes in four configurations, all made of durable polycarbonate, with water-submersible tolerance as deep as two meters.

Tactical Talker is MIL-STD-810 tested and certified, and can be TEMPEST qualified with different radio systems. The handset also meets the environmental and performance requirements of MIL-PRF-49078.
