Acromag launches NTW Series wireless I/O for remote monitoring and control
WIXOM, Mich. - Acromag, a manufacturer of industrial I/O solutions in Wixom, Mich., has introduced its BusWorks NTW Series wireless I/O modules, extending its NT Ethernet I/O family with secure Wi-Fi connectivity for remote monitoring and control applications.
The NTW Series is designed to enable engineers and system integrators to connect sensors and actuators to control systems without the need for network cabling, targeting installations where wiring is difficult, costly, or impractical. Each module combines the company’s NT modular I/O architecture with dual-band 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi based on IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n standards.
The communication modules support Acromag’s NTX expansion I/O modules, enabling users to scale channel counts and mix signal types. Systems can manage up to 64 I/O points under a single IP address, with available configurations supporting discrete signals, analog voltage and current, and temperature inputs.
In addition to wireless connectivity, the modules include an Ethernet RJ45 port to support wired networking or daisy-chained configurations. This hybrid approach enables deployment flexibility as system requirements evolve between wired and wireless architectures.
The NTW Series supports industrial Ethernet protocols, including Modbus TCP/IP and EtherNet/IP, as well as peer-to-peer communication. For Industrial Internet of Things applications, the modules support OPC UA and MQTT, and include a built-in RESTful API for integration with higher-level data systems and analytics platforms.
Security features include WPA3 wireless protection, TLS 1.2 with PKI and X.509 certificate management, and AES 256-bit encryption to help safeguard data transmitted over wireless networks.
Housed in a 25-millimeter DIN-rail-mountable enclosure with pluggable terminals, the modules are designed for operation across wide industrial temperature ranges. The NTW Series also meets global RF and regulatory requirements, enabling deployment in international markets.
