Silvus Technologies unveils FASST 6000 spectrum sensor for tactical RF intelligence
LOS ANGELES - Silvus Technologies in Los Angeles, a subsidiary of Motorola Solutions, introduced the FASST 6000 Spectrum Sensor, a compact RF sensing and spectrum intelligence system designed for signals intelligence, electronic warfare, and distributed RF monitoring missions at the tactical edge.
The new system expands Silvus Technologies beyond mobile ad hoc networking and tactical communications into RF sensing and spectrum awareness technologies for military and uncrewed systems applications.
the FASST 6000 combines handheld portability with high-speed RF spectrum sensing capabilities intended for dismounted operators and uncrewed aerial, ground, and maritime platforms operating in contested electromagnetic environments.
According to the company,
At the core of the system is Silvus' proprietary Filtering by Aliasing Spectrum Sensing Technology, or FASST, signal-processing architecture. The company says the technology enables scanning speeds of up to 144.5 terahertz per second across frequencies ranging from 1 megahertz to 6 gigahertz.
The architecture is designed to detect and direction-find short-duration, low-power, and low-duty-cycle transmissions that may be missed by conventional spectrum sensors. The system uses a synchronized antenna array to enable detection and directional geolocation of RF emitters.
Silvus says the FASST 6000 consumes 17 watts of power and integrates embedded processing, IP networking, and USB interfaces in a low size, weight, and power configuration intended for rapidly deployable sensing operations.
When connected through a StreamCaster mobile ad hoc network consisting of three or more sensors, the system can perform real-time triangulation and geolocation of RF emitters across the battlespace, the company says.
Technically, the platform reflects growing military interest in distributed passive RF sensing architectures capable of supporting electronic support measures, spectrum awareness, emitter geolocation, and counter-uncrewed systems missions without relying solely on centralized intelligence assets.
The FASST 6000 is available as either a rugged handheld system for dismounted operations or as an OEM module for integration into uncrewed aerial, ground, and maritime platforms.
