Ixthos unveils new multiprocessing DSP board

Dec. 1, 1998
Engineers at Ixthos Inc. of Leesburg, Va., are introducing their newest multiprocessing single-board digital signal processor (DSP) - the IXZ16. Based on the Analog Devices SHARC DSP-based ball grid array multichip modules, the new board features 16 ADSP-21060 SHARC DSPs. The boards process data as fast as 1.9 billion floating point operations per second, have as much as 256 megabytes global dynamic random access memory, and and offer two IXI module I/O sites one 6U VME slot. It has 16 off-board

It has 16 off-board SHARC links of 40 megabytes per second each, and an on-board multiprocessor research provides fast deterministic hardware semaphores, signals, and states between all SHARCs in a system.
