Elma Electronic Inc. in Fremont, Calif., is adding conduction-cooled models to its line of air-transport-rack (ATR) enclosures. Conduction-cooled ATRs are typical in applications in which the enclosure is sealed or operates at high altitudes. These enclosures have a machined card cage with wedge locks that transfer heat. They also comply with ARINC 404A specifications and are for temperature ranges between -40 and 70 degrees Celsius. Company officials say these ATRs are for avionics applications where load weight is a crucial issue. Versions are available for 3U or 6U VME or CompactPCI cards.
