SANTA BARBARA, Calif., 17 Aug. 2005. Condor Engineering in Santa Barbara, Calif., is offering FlightCORE-1553 to help avionics engineers blend advanced 1553 functionality into Xilinx and Altera field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs).

FlightCORE-1553 is a full-featured, multifunction implementation of Condor's CORE-1553 protocol engine technology. The tool offers protocol-processing functions for embedded designs, and is validated to the RT Validation Test Plan (MIL-HDBK-1553 Appendix A).

"Condor believes that in the long run, ASIC architectures are more costly and risky when compared with FPGA designs," says Bill Schuh, military products manager at Condor.

The FlightCORE-1553 Get Started Kit includes Condor's RT validated intellectual property, example builds & BOM, flexible API software, schematics, and a micro-sized personality module to ensure rapid development. FlightCORE-1553 comes royalty-free.
