CARLSBAD, Calif., 22 Sept. 2005. ViaSat Inc. has been awarded an add-on order valued at more than $5.2 million for Multifunctional Information Distribution System terminals from The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR), San Diego.
The order augments the $60 million delivery order announced on June 13, the largest MIDS order yet received by ViaSat as part of the MIDS Lot procurements.
The add-on order includes primarily LVT(2) ground-based Low Volume Terminals, as well as LVT(1) airborne terminals and spares. The MIDS LVT provides secure, high capacity, jam resistant, digital data and voice communication for US Navy, US Air Force, and U.S. Army platforms.
ViaSat is one of two government-qualified manufacturers of Link-16 MIDS terminals, part of a tactical radio system that collects data from many sources and displays an electronic overview of the battlefield. ViaSat recently delivered its 500th MIDS terminal to SPAWAR under the program.
ViaSat produces innovative satellite and other wireless communication products that enable fast, secure, and efficient communications to any location. Products include network security devices, tactical data radios, and communication simulators.
