3U CompactPCI and 6U VME sensor interfaces for military and aerospace uses introduced by NAI
BOHEMIA, N.Y., 27 May 2015. North Atlantic Industries (NAI) in Bohemia, N.Y., is introducing a family of sensor interface units (SIU) in 3U CompactPCI or 6U VME board form factors for military and aerospace applications.
The boards come in configurations ranging from one to five slots, and are for embedded computing applications that require high-density I/O, communications, Ethernet switching, and processing.
The boards are built on NAI’s Custom-On-Standard Architecture (COSA), which offers configurable communications systems via a flexible mix-and-match design. The rugged systems deliver off-the-shelf solutions that accelerate deployment of SWaP-optimized systems in demanding air, land, and sea applications, company officials say.
By employing NAI’s scalable COSA architecture, customers can choose from more than 40 intelligent I/O, communication, and Ethernet switch functions, as well as single-board computer options.
Packaging comes with multi-function I/O and communication boards, intelligent function modules, single-board computers, power supplies, and complete software libraries.
These systems are designed to meet MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-461F, MIL-STD-1275 and MIL-STD-704A-F. NAI’s configurable rugged systems product offering consists of the:
-- NIU1A, a nano-sized unit with an integrated power supply and an intelligent I/O and communication function module; -- SIU31, a 1-by-3U CompactPCI slots for installation of as many as three intelligent I/O and communication function modules; -- SIU33, a 3-by-3U CompactPCI slots for installation of as many as nine I/O and communication function modules; -- SIU35, a 5-by-3U CompactPCI slots for installation of as many as 15 I/O and communication function modules; and -- SIU6, a 2-by-6U VME slots for installation of as many as 12 I/O and communications function modules.
