HIAWATHA, Iowa, 26 July 2016. Crystal Group Inc. in Hiawatha, Iowa, is introducing the RE1401 Next Unit of Computing (NUC), a compact, high performance ruggedembedded computer appropriate for operational deployment in harsh environments.

The RE1401 NUC is a configurable, fan cooled computer that measures 6.3 by 1.9 by 4.8 inches, and is designed around the Intel 5th or 6th Generation Core i5/i7 CPU options.

The 2-pound RE1401 NUC is small enough for size-constrained areas and rugged enough to operate through harsh shock and vibration in military and industrial installations that need compute processing and data collection.

The RE1401 NUC is based on Intel's NUC motherboard form factors 5th or 6th generation i5/i7 workstation. The RE1401 NUC has one removable solid-state drive (SSD) and one fixed SSD with a removable SD card slot.

The system uses standard USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports, a 3.5-millimeter headset jack, one or two mini-Display ports and HDMI 2.0 or mini HDMI. Mounting alternatives include table-top and tray options. It supports six operating systems -- Windows 7/8.1/10, Server 2012 R2, Ubuntu, Fedora, or Open SUSE.

The RE1401 NUC is optimized for environments where a traditional desktop is not due to SWaP and to allow for maximum integration flexibility.
