Software tools to help write code for FPGA-based DSP embedded computing boards introduced by BittWare

The tool helps designers deal with code development, software debugging, and final software deployment.The BittWorks II Toolkit is a software suite for BittWare's DSP embedded computing products that are based on Altera Stratix IV and Stratix V FPGAs. The suite of software-engineering tools help make developing and debugging software applications for BittWare's Altera FPGA-based signal processing boards easy and efficient. "The hardware is only as good as the tools that support it," says on Huizen, vice president of technology at BittWare.The BittWorks II software tools help get developers up and running using BittWare DSP boards quickly by providing hardware and FPGA interfaces to reduce development time, BittWare officials say. The the BittWorks II Toolkit works with the Windows and Linux software operating systems.

The BittWorks II Toolkit includes the Host Interface Library (BwHIL) of portable, C-callable functions; Configuration Manager (BwConfig) to help designers scan for devices and map them; the Server (BwServer) TCP/IP server program that enables the accessing of PCI Express devices from a remote machine; the command line shell (BwShell) interactive scripting engine with an inline help system; BittWorks I/O software library of components and common driver interfaces based on POSIX I/O (Open, Read/Write, Ioctl, Close); Porting Kit tha that provides source code for the BittWorks Toolkit; and BittWorks II Software Tools that integrate with the BittWare ATLANTiS FrameWork.
