GE Fanuc introduces OCTEON Plus-based PCI Express single-board computer

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., 6 June 2008. GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms in Charlottesville, Va., is offering the WANic 5434 packet processor. The packet processor features four lanes of PCI Express for fast communication with the host.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., 6 June 2008.GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms in Charlottesville, Va., is offering the WANic 5434 packet processor with four lanes of PCI Express for fast communication with the host.

The device also features the 500 MHz Cavium OCTEON Plus 6-core MIPS64-based CN5434-NSP processor, which enables packet inspection at layers 2 to 7 for secure connectivity and complex security processing as fast as 4 gigabits per second.

The embedded computer consumes around 25 Watts of power, supports 1 gigabyte of DDR2 packet memory, has four front-panel access ports of 1000 BaseT or 1000 BaseSX Gigabit Ethernet.
