SAN JOSE, Calif., 5 June 2012.Real-time software specialist LynuxWorks Inc. in San Jose, Calif., is introducing LynxSecure 5.1 secure software support of the 3rd generation Intel Core i7 and Intel Core i5 processor families.
LynxSecure is a separation kernel and embedded type 1 hypervisor that enables several guest operating systems and applications to execute in their own virtual partitions simultaneously without compromising security, LynuxWorks officials say. The product is particularly applicable to embedded computing in military embedded systems and avionics.
"The multi-core and virtualization support that LynxSecure offers for these next generation of Intel processors helps make the most of the performance and security of applications," says Arun Subbarao, vice president of engineering at LynuxWorks.
The latest generation of Intel Core processors offers a 22-nanometer manufacturing process and uses a 3D structure to place transistors, as well as enhanced 3D graphics performance.
LynxSecure 5.1 provides secure virtualization for Intel-based embedded computing in complex several operating systems. LynxSecure offers two virtualization schemes, para-virtualized guest operating systems such as Linux and LynxOS-SE, and virtualized guest operating systems such as Windows, Solaris and Chromium OS.
LynxSecure also runs symmetric multi-processing capabilities. The quad-core Intel Core i7 processor makes this have a reality by allowing one of the guest operating systems to run across several cores, offering performance never seen before in a virtualized embedded system.
