HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Abaco Systems in Huntsville, Ala., is introducing the SBC3511 3U OpenVPX rugged single-board computer for high-performance command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (C4ISR).

The SBC3511 embedded computing board is for aerospace, defense, and industrial applications that need a combination of high performance, advanced security, and leading-edge thermal management.

The SBC3511's performance comes from its integrated Intel Xeon E-2176M 6-core/12-thread processor (formerly known as Coffee Lake) operating at 2.7 GHz with TurboBoost to 4.4 GHz, 32 gigabytes of DDR4 RAM and as much as 256 gigabytes of nVME solid-state drive memory.

The rugged computer board also has a 40 Gigabit Ethernet data plane, delivering not only a high-speed interconnect, but also alignment with the Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) technical standard, which creates a common framework for switching sensor systems to an open systems architecture, based on key interfaces and open standards established by industry-government consensus.

The single-board computer includes a range of security has designed to assist with user-defined anti-tamper and information assurance strategies.

The onboard Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC's built-in security includes a physical unclonable function, user-accessible hardened cryptographic blocks, asymmetric authentication, side-channel attack protection, and other silicon-based AT features for C4ISR applications. It can instantiate Abaco-defined security, or by user-defined application-specific features. It also has support for Intel Trusted Execution Technology.

The SBC3511 has a thermal-management design for deterministic performance even at the extended temperatures typical of deployment on space-constrained platforms in combat zones.

Development kits, including starter cages and accessories, also are available. The SBC3511 includes a x8 PCI Express Gen 3 XMC site; one USB 2.0 port and one USB 3.1 port; a DisplayPort interface; two serial ports; a SATA port; and as many as eight GPIO pins.

Also included are software options like BIOS Guard for signed image execution, Fedora Open Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS Linux, Wind River Linux, VxWorks 7, and Windows 10.
